The usual start procedure of a red light followed by a green light was not followed. Instead, only a green light was shown, causing confusion among the riders and false start penalties to be issued to the three riders starting from row 2. On 1993-05-24, the FFM Road Racing Commission judged that the appeal to have the race results declared void (filed by Florian Ferracci, Christian Lavieille and Jean-Yves Mounier) was rejected, and that the false start penalties issued to Denis Bonoris, Adrien Morillas and Wilfrid Veille were rescinded.
