Christer Lindholm would not be denied again; after two runner-up years at Yamaha he joined the Ducati factory team and stamped the competition with 9 wins from 14 races. His two non-finishes were the only times he didn't finish outside the podium places - except of course for the boycotted event at the Nürburgring. Another year, another drama; once again the OMK offended the Pro-Superbike bosses, this time by adding an extra date to the championship without agreement from the promoters. In response the Pro-Superbike teams were absent, with the exception of three riders, marking yet another battle in the ongoing war for German Superbike management rights. Bureaucracy aside, the championship now benefitted from live coverage on German TV and a strong contingent of competitors from Europe and beyond. The racing may have been less competitive for one year but the product was still strong, although its future was beginning to dim.
